A seminar will be held with Sergeant Jeffrey L. McGinnis, the Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement and Kathy A. Robbins, Sullivan County Treasurer on Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Sullivan County Courthouse, Laporte. The seminar will review Act 2 of 2012 which includes the changes/updates to the Small Games of Chance rules and regulations that went into effect March 3, 2012.

Reservations are required for both the counseling sessions and the Medicare information luncheon. The Craftsmen of the Endless Mountains are excited to announce the forthcoming 45th annual Flaming Foliage Festival to be held October 6th and 7th. The area’s premier craftsmen organization will be displaying and demonstrating their talents at the Forksville Fairgrounds, the event is held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., rain or shine. Admission and parking are free. On display you will find lapidary, spinning, blacksmithing, leather working, oil painting, quilting, and much more. Many of the members will be demonstrating throughout the weekend. There is a full schedule of daily events. Along with the fine display of handmade goods, many of the craftsmen and artisans will be demonstrating their talents. Live entertainment is offered on both days. Mutts Road, featuring music from the 70’s to today will perform on Saturday from noon until 3, and the country sounds of Four Strings Band will be on hand Sunday. All this is sure to compliment the picture perfect setting of Forksville in October. There will be a variety of great food available, Sullivan County 4-H will be holding their annual used book sale, and Shore Sisters will be there with a large array of pumpkins, apples and other fall harvest items. The 32nd Sullivan County Fall Festival will be held on October 13th and 14th. Spectators are encouraged to attend all the events at the fairgrounds, Rt. 154, Forksville, for the annual lumberjack and chainsaw carving competitions. The excitement begins on Saturday with men and women competing in ax throwing, log rolling, men’s crosscut, Jack & Jill crosscut, separate underhand chop for both men and women, the spring board chop, and the popular stock saw and hot saw competitions. Sunday’s event includes a chainsaw obstacle course designed for the local loggers of Sullivan County. These loggers display the skills of the work that they do every day. This unique competition is based on time, skill and safety. The loggers must maneuver through a series of precision cuts with a chainsaw and end up with the falling of a 20’ pole. Both days include the Mid-Atlantic National Chain Saw Carving Competition, approximately 20 experienced and artistic carvers traveling from different states around the east coast compete in a two day carving event. The carvers begin by creating a masterpiece from a 7’ x 30” log. Spectators watch in amazement as the carvings come to life with artistic style within just two days. The Board of Directors of Peoples State Bank of Wyalusing has announced that Articles of Amendment have been fi led with the Pennsylvania Department of Banking to amend the Articles of Incorporation and change the name of the Bank. Upon approval, the name of the Bank will be shortened to PS Bank later this year with the holding company name remaining Peoples LTD. The Bank’s new look and name does not indicate any change in the Bank’s ownership or management.
