The PA Apple ‘n Cheese Festival, held in Canton, will take place October 6 and 7 and will provide festival attendees with a great variety of dining options. The festival features 40 food booths, seven of which are operated by local nonprofit groups.
East Canton Church, Canton Church of Christ, Grover Church of Christ, St. Michael’s Church and the New Life Church all sponsor booths at the festival. These churches serve up pies, sloppy joes, salt potatoes, nachos and apple crisp. Festival–goers wait patiently in line at the East Canton Church’s famous Apple Dumplin’ Gang booth. The line for the apple dumplings, served with or without ice cream, often crosses the event’s driveway.
The Canton Lions Club and Canton Fire Department each run large booths in the festival food court. Canton Lions Club serves ham BBQ, homemade apple pies and sharp cheese. Both groups welcome early festival attendees with delicious breakfast sandwiches.
New vendors this year will be serving handmade bagels, hot roast beef sandwiches, ice cream, ribbon fries, breaded macaroni and cheese bites, pickles on a stick, German roasted nuts and fried cheese curds. Additional vendors will be selling everything from crab cake sandwiches, bloomin’ onions, fudge, beef jerky, pierogies, among many other items.
Countless varieties of cheese will be sold by LeRaysville Cheese Factory, Palentine Dairy, the Canton Lions Club, Our House Cakes & Bakes, Landon’s Farm Market and Farm Fromage. Apples will be sold by Gardiner’s Farm and Landon’s Farm Market. Festival attendees who are over 21 can also enjoy samples from Sand Castle Winery and Bastress Mountain Winery.
