Not sure which Medicare Advantage or Medicare prescription coverage option to choose? The Bradford/Sullivan/ Susquehanna/Tioga County Area Agency on Aging, Inc. APPRISE Program is here to help. You can schedule a FREE one-on-one counseling session to assist you during the Medicare Open Enrollment period, October 15th to December 7th, 2012. You are also invited to attend a Medicare information session and luncheon on Friday, September 28, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the St. Francis Hall, Mildred. Reservations are required for both the counseling sessions and the Medicare information luncheon.
In the FREE counseling sessions, trained staff and volunteers will help you better understand the Medicare system; check your options for coverage of your prescription drugs; and explain the various Medicare Advantage Plans available in your county, as the plans are county specific. They will review the Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug plans and explain their current health and drug plan coverage. The APPRISE counselors will also discuss any expected changes to coverage plans for 2013, to help keep you informed as you choose the plan that will best meet your specific needs.
The Basics of Medicare session on September 28th will be presented by Hollie Irvine, APPRISE Coordinator. The session will provide an overview of Medicare coverage, costs associated with the various Medicare components, and an explanation of Medicare Supplemental Plans and Medicare Advantage Plans. Individuals will learn about the importance of Open Enrollment and how the Area Agency on Aging APPRISE Program can assist Medicare benefi ciaries. Following the presentation, a luncheon will be served consisting of lasagna, hot spiced peaches, mixed vegetables, bread, and an apple. The APPRISE program helps the Medicare beneficiary better understand the complexities of the system and assist the benefi ciary to make educated decisions about their health and prescription drug coverage.
