Founder's Day Toilet Seat Contest Opens April 1, 2019

The Dushore Founder’s Day Toilet Seat Painting Contest is back and ready for another year of artistic expression in 2019.
This unique art contest offers a fun opportunity to get creative; it also benefits the community, as all proceeds from the auction go to the Sullivan County Library in Dushore.
RULES & REGULATIONS
Competition is open to all amateur, student or professional artists age 16 and up. Popular vote will decide the winners on the day of the Outhouse Races, Saturday, August 10, 2019. Trophies and monetary prizes will be awarded during Founder’s Day activities.
First–place winners will receive $25.00, second place $15.00 and third place $10.00.
Only the official white wooden seat and lid provided may be entered. Pick up the entry form and seat at the Jolly Trolley beginning April 1, 2019. The fee must be paid at time of pickup.
Entrants can submit as many seats as they like ($10 fee applies for each submission). Contestants who cannot pick up toilet seats in person may pay shipping and handling with their entry fee to have official seats delivered. Only entries painted on official seats will be accepted; no substitute seats allowed.
New rules: Seat artwork is to be created with some type of paint, textured paints, glitter, gems, sequins, etc. Artwork should be sealed with a waterproof layer as it will be displayed outside on the day of the activities, rain or shine.
All seats will be pre–judged for competition criteria.
Winners will be chosen by popular vote. Don’t forget to stop by the Founder’s Day vendor lot on Main Street to cast votes for your favorites on August 10!
ARTWORK
Only the outside of the lid need be painted. Artwork does not have to feature outhouses, historical scenes, or even Dushore—past winning designs have depicted everything from beautiful wildlife and nature scenes to abstract and cartoon.
No logos, brand names or any copyrighted images are allowed. No images of nudity or suggestive nature. Artwork degrading the human condition or depicting illegal acts or political references will not be displayed or judged. This is a day of family and fun!
Seats not winning a prize will be auctioned off. The auction will be held at 4 p.m. before the Roll-A-Keg and Outhouse Races.
Registration opens April 1, 2019 and the deadline to enter is July 31, 2019. Please return the seat with the original package so when it is sold at auction it will have its box. Any late arrivals will not be judged. Seats will be displayed at the Jolly Trolley until voting time.

Last year’s contest saw fifteen entries, and raised over $830. The winning seat from 2017 which had been on display with the other voted winners of that year brought in $400!
